Let's Talk About: Contrast Stitching

Contrast Stitching Hero.jpg

To be completely honest with you, there isn’t a whole lot to say about contrast or top stitching (whatever you’d prefer) except that suddenly, everywhere, I’m seeing people featuring it in their outfits. This tiny detail is making waves in fashion at the moment, and, based off our last chat about making minimalism interesting, contrast stitching seems to be a perfect follow up topic to talk about. It’s an (almost painstakingly) obvious way to add a level of interest to your outfit, and helps add shape and direction to an otherwise block silhouette. Don’t hesitate - here are our top five pieces to incorporate this subtle trend.

  1. Mugler High-rise slim leg jeans Take things a step further with these piping hot red jeans that use contrast stitching as a contouring illusion.

  2. The East Order Dex jumpsuit This jumpsuit’s silhouette lends old-world elegance to functional utility in this top-stitched wide leg jumpsuit.

  3. Reformation Roxanna Dress Ruffle some feathers in this va-va-voom style complete with white contrast stitching.

  4. Alexa Chung Black Military Boots No one ever said this trend was restricted to clothes.

  5. Nobody Denim Hunter Jacket We love a good denim jacket - update this wardrobe staple with this micro-trend.
